This position is located in the Chaplain Services Department of the Veterans Home of California – Redding and conducts Protestant religious services, provides pastoral care, gives instruction, and does other related work as required.  The incumbent must be currently ordained, duly accredited by, and in good standing with a nationally recognized Protestant demomination.

Working Conditions

Employees  of CalVet will be required to follow state or county public health guidelines and requirements enacted in accordance with infectious disease prevention and control.

Special Requirements

• The position(s) require(s) completion of educational courses as specified in the Class Specification (link available in the Minimum Requirements section).

Veterans  may qualify for a CalVet Veterans Hiring Preference. Military service must be included in the Employment History section of the Employment Applications (STD. 678). The application package must include documentation of discharge, appropriate to the branch of service. The documentation must reflect a discharge/release under conditions other than dishonorable. If the candidate fails to include this information then the CalVet Veterans Hiring Preference shall not be granted in the recruitment.

Successful completion of a live scan and a pre-employment physical (including drug testing for certain civil service classifications) will be required.

The Veterans Home of California - Redding is located in Northern California, just south of Shasta Lake, nestled between the Cascades and the Trinity Alps.  With its natural beauty and abundance of recreational opportunities, Redding combines the ambiance of a small town with the amenities of a large city.  Our facility offers free parking.

Please remove any confidential information (e.g., social security number, date of birth, etc.) as well as any information regarding your LEAP eligibility and/or exam scores from your documents prior to submission.

A complete application package includes: a STD. 678, transcripts, ordination certificate, and resume.

If your eligibility requires that you meet the Minimum Qualifications of the class and you qualify under pattern requiring education, then the selected candidate will be required to provide official college transcripts prior to appointment .
